Books of the Bible

What is your favorite book of the Bible? I really don't know if anyone does, but when I was asked what my favorite verse was, I had to narrow down the books of the Bible, and then I chose my favorite verse in that book. It so happens that my favorite chapter holds my favorite verse, too. Anyway, I was thinking if there was a way that you could tell more about a person just because of their favorite book of the Bible. Please tell me how accurate you think this is. First off, I would love to hear what you think your favorite book of the Bible is. Take some time to think about it if you do not know off the top of your head right now. If your pastor chose a book to teach on, what excites you the most? If you were asked what is your favorite Bible story, what book is it in? Who is the most inspirational character in the Bible to you, and what book is he/she in? If you don't have a favorite book of the Bible, or even if you do, I would not mind if you took the time to read all of t...

Devotionals: Fruit of the Spirit Series

*Here is the series all on one blog post.*  I have thought of this idea. I have asked my followers and friends on Instagram what they think I should write about: What biblical topic would make a good devotional lesson? I thought that I could be the creator. Who says you can't make a devotional- even if barely anyone reads it! I think that everyone learns differently, so everyone can make a devotional about things that stand out to them. I obviously will and have used outside sources, including the Bible, to make these devotionals. I have posted all of them here on one document, but I work on making them each a separate post if you would like me to. Some topics I felt I could write a devotional on are: biblical characters and the choices they made to make them who they were, specific biblical concepts that define Christians such as grace, faith, honesty, and so many more. I could also write a devotional on each of the parts of the fruit of the Spirit, or a separate devotional summ...

What if I Wasn't Born Into a Christian Home?

What if I wasn't born into a Christian home? I know as a child I had this thought often, even within the past few years. I am not a Christian just because my family is, or because I went to church for years even as a little child so I heard the gospel all the time, but I am a Christian because I personally made the choice to accept Christ as my Lord and Savior. Yet, everything else really did help. I mean, I started thinking today with that question and my thoughts immediately jumped all over the place: Would I know who my dad was? Would I have moved around a lot? When would someone have taken the time to tell me about the gospel? What would I have reacted to that message? Would my family be another religion? I am just surprised, as I take time to think about it, how much the life that I was born into really shaped who I am today. I would not have been overseas and moved as much as an MK if I was not born into my family (or the chances are very slim, which is another topic for an...

A Turn For the Worst

My life the past week, and especially in the past few days, has taken quite an interesting turn.  So, about the beginning of July my brother, who is a young growing teenage boy, stopped wanting to eat. Now, mind you, he normally eats the whole house out of food. He does not want to share any of the food that is placed on the table, and my sister feels like she never gets enough food because my brother eats it gone before she can finish her firsts. My brother adores burgers, yet on the 3rd and 4th, he would not hardly touch them. He finished one burger, but normally he eats three. We were all confused, but my sister was enjoying it.  After a few days, though, the situation switched from confusing to a big deal. Over the past few days we had not stopped to guess what was going on with my brother. Were he taste buds changing? Did he have COVID (though he had no respiratory issues)? We had no idea what to guess.  Yesterday was when things really changed. My brother had been e...

Is Secular Stuff Okay?

I have been asked this question by: literally no one. But, I think it is something important that needs to be addressed. This is something that took me time to learn, and I might still even be learning it right now.  Many Christians are concerned about the pull of the world. We are told pretty much to be "in the world, but not of it" (though this is not specifically quoted in any verse of the Bible). When this idea comes up, I resort to Romans 12: 2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may test and approve what God's will is, His good, perfect, and pleasing will." This verse clearly indicates that we need to "set our sights on things of above, not of things here on earth" (Colossians 3:2).  So we need to spend our time focusing on the Lord. What does that have to do with secular music? I understand certain songs or movies are bad because they are not glorifying to God with the words o...

I Am Growing

I mean, you would hope we are all growing. A common phrase my family loves to use when they learn something new- some odd fact that they did not know until someone informed them about it- is "I'm still alive" because supposedly "The day you don't learn anything new, you are not alive." So, every day we learn something new. We grow.  Recently, I have felt that I don't know how to spend my time wisely. I am about to leave for college so I probably will not get hired for any 'normal' job for such a short time, and with my location, there are not many job opportunities in the first place. I have been blessed with some side jobs I can do every once and a while, but it does not take up that much time. I'm not bored, I just wish everything I do has a purpose. If I have not mentioned it before, I like to feel productive and useful. Every night, especially the summer nights, I don't feel like I can sleep well unless I did something I was proud of ...
