Along the Wall

I just thought of an analogy that explains life from a biblical perspecitive. Christians are like people sitting on a high wall, borderline between Heaven and earth. Their goal is to tell others to ask for the help to get up on the wall. They need to get on the wall because we can see the other side. Once another person gets on the wall, they get a small glimpse of what is to come for them on the other side. They now know that they cannot possibly get off until they are brought to the Heaven side of the wall. But, while they are still on the wall they have two jobs: talk to others on the wall to get to know them, and get others on the earth side to join them on the wall. As a person on the wall, we know how to get up (I mean, we did get up their so we have experience, do we not). We understand exactly who to go to and what to ask for. Yet, sometimes it is as if we are sitting on the wall telling people on the earth side that we know someone that has a ladder if they want to get up...

I Wonder

I wonder...and sometimes it is okay to wonder. I wonder if when most of Revelation has come to pass and we are living in the Millennial Kingdom, if the kids born in there will still be reading the Bible that we read, or if they will just listen to our stories (and Jesus himself, right) to know all that has happened.  I wonder how in the world children born in the Millennial Kingdom can meet Jesus and still chose not to accept the free gift offered to them. I mean, I am shocked when people hear the gospel message in today's day and they still reject the gospel. How much more guts it would take after meeting Jesus. People today make excuses like "You can't know God is real." But the kids in those days will NOT be able to say that- they will have MET Him!   I wonder what was meant by the phrase "The angel of the church of...". I wonder if this means that every present-day church has an angel assigned to it. I wonder what happens when a church falls apart. I won...

Give It All to God

Yesterday, I got to have a Bible study with my dorm group, and then I got to talk with my small group afterward. I realized based on the two testimonies I heard, many Christians try to make it through struggles by themselves. They do not simply give it all to God.  We daily go through struggles, but then we try and though it out. We focus on what the problem is and whatever we can do in our power to make the problem better. We want to solve the problem ourselves, and when we realize we can't we begin to panic and fall apart.  I, as I am writing this, have many concerns that can affect my life in dramatic ways. Yet, this is something that I have really been working on recently. Obviously, it is something that I cannot do on my own, but I am learning to give all my cares and concerns to God. I want to give Him the glory for everything He does in my life, and it is not my place to worry or try to solve my problems.  Of course, I should not just stay in bed all day and ...

Favorite Historical Passage

What is your favorite historical event in Scripture and why? What an interesting question. While I would find that I read the Bible often enough, and I comprehend all that I am reading, I do not think I have a favorite story. I know quite a few people that do, but I never went around choosing my favorite. After taking a few moments to think about it, there are two stories that really stand out to me: Abigail and David, and Saul/Paul.  I enjoy the story of Abigail and David (and yes, I put the female's name first because she is the main character of this story) because of the promises and truths attributed to it. For example, when David was coming over to kill Abigail's husband at the time (Nabal), Abigail went against her husband's orders in order to follow what she believed was the right and moral thing to do because she recognized her husband's foolishness. I think it was really cool that even though David swore to kill Nabal himself, the love and genuineness of Ab...

How Much?

How much "Bible" should I read in a day? How much should I read in my personal Devotion time or Bible Study?  For years I always struggled with reading the Bible daily in the first place. For a good few years (probably more) I was probably a lukewarm Christian who only read my Bible on Sunday. I did not mean to just ignore the truths in front of me. Through that, I was not living my life for Christ because I forgot some of the things He told me to do through His Word. I did not live differently every other day of the week, I just clearly did not care about reading the Bible. I thought it was boring and never wanted to get into difficult chapters or books. Yet, through the years God has shown me the importance of His Word. I once heard via a sermon or small group that I will not enjoy reading the Bible until I start. Then, it will become a habit and I will not want to go a day without reading the Bible. So, I think it is important to start with the idea that it is better to re...
