The election happened; didn't you notice? Two major parties (and a few minor parties) were running against each other in a political battle for the presidency. While everyone seems to have an opinion on what they think should take place, it does not seem like they really have much control over the situation. It seems like whoever is elected has a fault or a few and it seems like there is no winning side. Also, there is talk of protests that will take place as soon as the extremists of the losing party hear of the news. It seems that there is a whole bunch of chaos and the election is just the kick start of it all. Yet, it is important to compare it all to what the Bible has to say about this.
Jeremiah 29:7 talks about how when Israel is in captivity they need to pray for their enemies who just took over them. Isreal was called to prat for the prosperity of Israel's enemies. We need to pray for America, or any other nation where we live, and the people who are put in authority there. Even if these people are our enemies or do not seem to side with us, God has a plan for them in the position that they are in.
Ezekial 33:7 talks about how God does not rejoice in the death of the wicked but desires that they run to Him. We need to pray that they are saved and understand the Truth instead of hoping that they are punished. We should not dismiss any human as without hope or without the chance of turning to Christ. Everyone is "one step away from surrender, one step away from coming home". It's not our place to give up on someone just because of 100 failed tries. Salvation is a work of grace, and only of God's grace. We should not assume that anyone is out of the reach of God.
Remember that Saul guy? Or what about Nebeucahnezzer? How about Ninevah? All three of those cases are examples of people or groups of people that from a human's point of view were considered unrecoverable. Most humans, including Christians, may have looked at those in the beginning years and thought to themselves "These people are without hope". But, God works in mysterious ways. God knows everyone's hearts. And most importantly, God is in control.
